CT Personal Injury Lawyers - Advancing the Rights of Victims

In the courtroom, the personal injury lawyers of RisCassi & Davis, strive to educate juries about the evidence, with the models, enlargements and expert testimony often necessary to understand a complex, technical case. When necessary, we advocate changes in the law to judges of the trial or appellate bench, and we seek to bring about change in the law for the betterment of our clients and others harmed by wrongdoing of others.

During legislative sessions, some of our personal injury lawyers, usually in association with the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, strive to educate Connecticut legislators about needed changes in Connecticut law. In this way, we work to protect, preserve and, hopefully, enhance the legal rights of victims. We have resisted changes in the law designed to limit the right of an injured person to a fair recovery.

At seminars, we strive to educate other personal injury lawyers in Connecticut and beyond, while simultaneously learning from their experiences. In addition to attending professional seminars, many of us have served as program leaders or lecturers at conferences dealing with matters of interest to trial lawyers. Dave Cooney serves on the Continuing Legal Education Committee of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. Many of our Connecticut personal injury lawyers have published articles in the Connecticut Bar Journal regarding issues of tort law in Connecticut. Jim Bartolini has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Connecticut Bar Journal. Michael Jainchill has co-authored a respected treatise on Connecticut Uninsured Motorist Law, now in its third edition. A fourth edition is planned.

Leadership Through Education

At the University of Connecticut School of Law, RisCassi & Davis, has sponsored mock trial competitions and donated funds for the William R. Davis Moot Courtroom. Bill Davis, Jim Bartolini, John Houlihan, Andy Groher and Kathy Calibey have all taught Trial Practice or other courses at the law school. Other lawyers have served as guest lecturers or judges at trial and appellate advocacy competitions at the law school. In our Hartford, CT office, we try to educate ourselves and each other on the pertinent law and facts. We often field questions from other lawyers. We welcome questions from our clients and from potential clients.

A trial practice courtroom was named in honor of senior partner, William R. Davis at the University of Connecticut School of Law. We were pleased that so many lawyers, judges, and members of the faculty and administration packed the hall to join in our celebration. The contributions made by RisCassi & Davis, to fund construction of this courtroom, are only one aspect of our relationship with the law school. Five of our attorneys graduated from the law school, starting with Bill Davis back in 1955. Many of our attorneys have taught courses there. We regularly hire law clerks from the University of Connecticut School of Law. We hope that the new William R. Davis Courtroom will encourage students to develop trial skills, so that they will continue our fight for justice and fairness as personal injury lawyers in Connecticut.
